Like many people right now, I’m obsessed with Hades. The fact that my partner currently has my Switch aside, it’s unusual for me to go a day without interacting with this game somehow. (God bless Twitch streams. Also, sorry to my partner who had to witness me play Hades while watching courtenberry stream Hades.) Today, I finally did a costest for Zagreus!
For my makeup today I used Ben Nye for foundation and face contour. For my eyes and some additional face contouring I used elf concealer, Colourpop’s main squeeze palette, Colourpop’s Proceed With Caution palette, and NYX’s Smokey palette.
First! Here’s my bare face! Did I choose to do Zagreus because our eyebrows and face structure are already pretty similar? Yes.
Before doing anything, I had to make sure my bathroom sink was photograph ready. If only I had a Dusa to do this for me.
Next, I had to get rid of my stubble that took me a couple of weeks to grow. Oh well, some more testosterone injections and some more time and I’ll be back to prepubescent Shaggy beard soon! (This post is not sponsored by dollar shave club.)
So, after getting rid of my 3 manly beard hairs I put on my wig and got to work. I like having my wig on while I do my makeup so I can see where the fibers are going to lie. That, and I’m also able to compare my eyebrows to the wig color. I didn’t have to do much to my eyebrows other then set them in place with an eyebrow gel and use some black eyeshadow to match them to the wig. After that I started on my eyes. I put down a base of elf concealer, otherwise my hooded eye sweat would smear everything with in 2 seconds. Rude. I then set the concealer with the nude tone in my smoky palette.
After this I started on two different eye looks. One for Zagreus’ red eye that he got from his father (Hades) and the other eye he got from his mother (Persephone.) I don’t own any contacts (which I’ve never been successful at waring anyways.) So I differentiated the two with the way I contoured my eyes. For Hade’s eye I contoured with a black and used red as my neutral tone. For my Persephone side I stuck with more natural contouring colors of browns. I touched up my eyes more later, but this is how they looked before I went ahead with foundation
.
First, let’s start with the obvious. Did I go too light with the foundation? Absolutely. Does it kind of work because Zagreus is dead? Yes. And that’s the story I’m sticking with. After applying my foundation I also went through with my face contour. Zagreus is fairly angular (I’m not. I’m fairly squashy.) So I went in with hard angles of cream contour. After going in with a normal human tone, I went and added some black to Hade’s side of the face. At this point I looked like I could walk into an MCR concert easily.
After putting on a red Kimono I have for another cosplay and this gold metal belt I found at a thrift store years ago, the look is complete! I adore how this look came out, and who knows! Maybe I’ll finish the cosplay one day. Though perhaps one day I will have the money and time to put together my current Hades dream cosplay: Chaos.
Now, time to go watch another escape from Hades!
