Half & Half Skeleton Charcter Makeup
Going from very first draft to the following version of this makeup, my main goal was to improve this look. Which, considering the fact that the original was very much just coming up with ideas as I went along, wasn’t too hard of a challenge. The main goals was to make the look more attractive in terms of colors chosen and for it to look cleaner in technique.
So, as a reminder, this is what we have to grow from!
Not the worst, but it certainly isn’t my best work. I definitely had fun playing with the colors here, if you weren’t able to tell! However, this look is very muddy and doesn’t instantly read as skeleton like it is supposed to. So! Onwards to a new attempt!
As always, here’s my face pre makeup! I didn’t bother with fixing my eyebrows or shaving my stubble off for this look as I wasn’t worried about recreating a smooth attractive god’s face.
In order to help create some more cleanliness, the base will be cream products, and so will some of the lines (though not all!) Though I couldn’t stay away from powder products entirely since I don’t have a wide variety of cream colors to play with (yet.)
This side’s entire start was done using cream products! Also, in order to get that light color that in the original (done with white eyeshadow), I used the ben nye ultralite highlight as the base. Then, I used the Mehron bruise wheel’s green color to lay down the smiling skeleton shape I wanted on this side.
Next, I used my Mehron Cream Blend stick in light grey for the base on the other side. I then set the base with some blue eyeshadow before going on top to add the details using one of the purple’s from the Certifeye palette. In my experience it’s easier to add powder on top of cream after it’s been set! Which, makes sense to me since that’s a common step in a lot of beauty eye looks (use a cream as base, set, then do eye look).
Then, after adding in the teeth, completing the nose, and a couple of other details, that was the complete look! There are a couple of areas that could have used some clean up, but it was certainly a major improvement over the previous look. Also, did I ignore the back of the mehron bruise wheel that says not to use green on your lips? Yes. Did I check to see if the eyeshadow would have been non toxic on lips? No. But, since this look was going to be on for a max of an hour and I didn’t have any other ideas- here we were.
And, here’s a final look at how things improved with this look:
Overall, I’m proud of how things evolved! And, I’m glad to report I haven’t been instantly killed by the products on my lips.
